The Pros And Cons Of Folding Treadmills

Folding treadmills have their good points and bad points. Become familiar with the ups and downs of foldaway designs to help you decide if a space saving model is right for you. A treadmill is a big purchase. Take your time researching the features of several brands and models before choosing a model that folds or a standard treadmill.

The biggest benefit of a space saver treadmill is their ability to be used in smaller spaces. If you just don't have enough room in your home for a larger model, one that folds may be your best bet. Another benefit of foldable treadmills is that cleaning is easier. Cleaning under the unit itself is easier with a space saving model.

When purchasing a foldable model, look at a quality model that has received the best treadmill ratings. A good quality design will cost more, but the extra money will get you a better machine. Many of the cheaper space saving treadmills have poor stability. This isn't true of all models that fold, just the lower end models. A downside of a good quality foldaway design is the price. They tend to be a bit more expensive than a comparable non-folding unit.

One of the reasons for this added expense is actually a plus for foldable treadmills. The frames of most foldaway designs for small spaces are built better than non-folding models. The reason for this overbuilding is to make the machine sturdier. More mechanical parts, such as the folding mechanism, contribute to the added cost.

When space saving treadmills first came on the market, many of them were cheap and unsteady. The problem was so large, that some people still think they aren't stable. This is no longer true. The technology has been greatly improved and there are quite a few good quality foldable treadmills on the market today. Bear in mind that most of these are the higher end products, regardless of the manufacturer.
